Luxembourg at the Fair

I received an e-mail from Anny Bastian of the Luxembourg Museum, in her e-mail she wrote:

"The Luxembourg exhibit which included sculptures and paintings have somehow been lost. The last letter we found is dated November 27, 1940 addressed by our Consul in New York to our Ambassador in Washington. The letter states that

"All our assets in the pavilion are "frozen" the same as the property of any Luxembourg people in this country"

In this country meaning of course the US since at that time Luxembourg had already been invaded by Germany. I am informing you of the above just hoping that perhaps you had a suggestion whom we could contact."

I have sent her the link to the NYPL section on their site containing 17 photos and suggested she contact the NYPL in an "official museum" capacity to possibly obtain whatever records they may have. Also, suggested contacting Time-Warner Corp. since they own LIfe magazine and may have additional material.

If you have any ideas or material about Luxembourg at the Fair, contact Ms. Bastian at bastian@pt.lu I mentioned to her that if she wanted to have any information she obtains placed on my WF web site, I would be happy to do so and let everyone share in that part of Fair History.
