The Trylon & Perisphere on Reaction Grid

Thanks to the hard work of Ruud Lathrop of the Netherlands and Joey Chernov of the United States, the Trylon and Perisphere once again proudly stands for visitors to admire in the Virtual World of Reaction Grid.

Considering the lack of detailed information available and the limitations of building in a virtual world, these two builders have given others the opportunity to experience the size and magnificence of an event in history that has been gone for almost 70 years. Through the front doors you enter a "gift shop" at the base of the Trylon. Here your avatar can obtain a free World's Fair t-shirt and view representations of post cards and miniatures on display. From here you proceed to one of two escalators (currently walkways) which take you to the upper or lower levels inside the Perisphere. In 1939 you would have stood on a moving floor called the "magic carpet" which took you around the inner circumference of the Perisphere. In the reconstruction, the avatar must walk around.

Looking down over the railing, you will see the reconstruction of Democracity ... "symbol of a perfectly integrated, futuristic metropolis pulsing with life and rhythm ..." Upon completing the walk-around you exit the Perisphere onto the bridge which takes you back to the Trylon and onto the Helicline, an elevated circular walkway leading back to the ground level.

Future plans are to continually add more details to the structures and have audio and video presentations as well as additional historical information in the form of photos and hand-outs that visitors can take with them.

Thanks Paul without you & your team of volunteers we would not have any of this. ReactionGrid will continue to support the growth of the fair until complete.

You have simply done amazing work-Kyle G
